Salvation: The Turning Point

Updated on December 2, 2012

Return to God's Arms

Have you prayed to accept Jesus Christ into your heart? Have you verbally expressed to Him that you want Him to be your personal Lord and Savior?

If you haven’t, then today is your chance. Just repeat this prayer guide and mean it with all of your heart:

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me an opportunity to know You. Thank You for sending Your Son Christ Jesus for me.

Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for me. Please forgive me of all my sins. I admit that I have done wrong against You. I also admit that I can’t change myself – please change me. I invite You now to come into my life. Please come and live in my heart. From now on, You are my personal Lord and Savior. Please lead me closer to Your heart. Please teach my heart to love You. Give me the grace to renew my mind, and please heal my body. Let me know what it means to have a relationship with You.

Thank You, Lord, for my forgiveness. Thank You for writing my name in the Book of Life. And I ask these all, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Congratulations! You are now a child of God. How could something so grand be this simple? It’s all because of Jesus! He made it possible – He paid the price. He has done it all! He died on the cross to pay for our sins. We should be the ones to be punished, but Jesus took our place instead. He bridged the gap between the Holy Father and us.

Romans 3:23 says that “all men have sinned and fall short of God's glory.” No matter how good we are – in our own eyes, and through reputation, it is just not good enough. We still miss the mark; we failed the standard of God's beautiful holiness. Nevertheless, what Jesus did was perfect. It is so pure and complete, that it works for anyone who will say “Yes!” to Him.

The Point of No Return

Deep in the heart of every person is a need for a form of salvation. Be it in terms of relationships, financial security, health, or a sense of fulfillment. The Lord God, the Author of Life, has placed eternity in our hearts. Truly, there is a void in our hearts that only God can fill. In times past until now, people try to fill this hurting emptiness with relationships, wealth, beauty and success. We all thought we could drown out the unexplainable misery with a flood of work, entertainment or just about anything that would keep our minds from realizing something. But when the lights are out and the noise fades away, we are the ones drowning in a flood of tears, a sea of loneliness. In the end, something is still missing. Someone.

After Adam and Eve, every baby born in this world is dead in the spirit. We were like a dead man being roused by a loved one – tugged, wailed over, offered the favorite meal, given a million of cash – but still, no response. God is wooing us, but we don’t seem to care. Our spirit is dead to His Spirit.

“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? {25} Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom 7:24-25 NLT)

The Pivot Point of History

Jesus has set us free! All it takes are words. When Jesus died on the cross, and was raised back to life, humankind is forever changed. However, this change is a personal thing; no other person can do it for you. Salvation is only found in Jesus. I hate to disappoint you, but there are no ‘many roads’ to heaven. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

“If you use your mouth to say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved. {10} We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we use our mouths to say that we believe, and so we are saved.” (Rom 10:9-10 NCV)

Be familiar with this truth, and this truth will set you free.
